Greenmeadow Primary School

Vision: Respect Ourselves, Grow Together, Learn Forever

INTENT

At Greenmeadow Primary School, we are committed to creating a nurturing, inclusive environment where respect, reflection, and positive contributions to society are foundational. Our curriculum is designed with a clear vision: to provide all children with a broad, flexible, and exciting learning journey that equips them not only for now but for the future. By blending relevant, real-world learning with progressive teaching methods, we aim to maximize each children’s unique potential and foster both personal and academic growth.

Our curriculum is creative, inspiring curiosity, and structured to provide first-hand experiences that ignite enthusiasm for learning. It prioritises mental health, promotes cultural awareness, and supports children’s ability to understand and contribute to their community and the wider world. In this way, British values are made meaningful to our children, translating into the values and principles we live by each day at Greenmeadow Primary School. This ensures that our pupils are not only well-prepared for their future but are also enriched, inspired, and empowered by their experiences in school.

In our school it is our expectation that we will all be respectful, reflective and contribute positively to our society. We endeavour to work together to achieve the best possible education for all, so that individuals can maximise their personal attributes, achievements and enjoyment.

IMPLEMENTATION

At Greenmeadow Primary School, we implement our SMSC curriculum with a focus on fostering respect, reflection, and positive contributions. To support this, we design a broad, flexible, and progressive curriculum across all subjects which provides comprehensive subject coverage while allowing for adaptability based on children's needs and interests. In addition to our curriculum work, we have developed class Cultural Capital work across the school which provides opportunities for children to further their experiences in creative work (music, drama), sports (where they can both compete and represent the school), further life skills (debate, visit museums, take part in a presentation to others) and further skills important for independence (writing letters, raising money for charity). Lessons connect to real-world contexts, making learning relevant to children’s lives and encouraging them to apply their knowledge to positively impact their community. This is achieved by incorporating creative, first-hand experiences—such as field trips, visitors, and hands-on activities. Mental health and well-being are a priority, and we embed emotional and social learning to support resilience, mindfulness, and pastoral care, helping children feel valued, safe, and ready to learn. Cultural awareness and diversity are also central, as we celebrate a range of cultures, traditions, and perspectives to foster empathy and respect. British values, including democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, and mutual respect and tolerance, are woven into everyday school life through assemblies, projects, charity work, pupil  leadership roles and classroom discussions. Additionally, we use varied assessment methods to help children reflect, set personal goals and take ownership of their learning. Through this approach, Greenmeadow’s curriculum and wider approach to school life ensures all children are inspired, prepared, and empowered, equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and values needed for success now and in the future.
