Young Carers
At Greenmeadow Primary School, we want the very best for all our children. If a young person looks after someone, we know that they may need additional support to help them get the most out of their education, and we want to help them reach their potential.
Young Carers (YC) are children or young people, under the age of 18 yrs old, who look after someone who has a disability, long-term illness, mental health problem, or a problem with drugs or alcohol.
YC’s may be taking care of a parent, brother, sister or any other family member.
Caring may take the form of personal care, domestic chores, giving medication, help to fill in forms, giving reminders of what to do and when, supervision, emotional or communication support.
At Greenmeadow we have a designated member of staff who has special responsibility for YCs and will ensure that all support is offered and co-ordinated to suit each individual. Currently our designated teacher is Miss Pallett and our designated governor is Mrs Norton
